Hanford, CA – A weak storm system will move across central California midweek, bringing a chance for light snow across the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada, according to the National Weather Service in Hanford.

Forecasters estimate a 30–40% probability for 1 inch or more of snow over a 24-hour period from Wednesday into early Thursday, primarily at elevations above 9,000 feet. Snowfall will likely be limited to Yosemite National Park, John Muir Wilderness, and Mammoth Lakes, with no significant accumulation expected in lower valleys.

Meteorologists note that this system will be weak and fast-moving, delivering cooler air but little moisture overall. Roads and passes at higher elevations could see brief slick conditions, especially during the early morning hours Wednesday.

The storm will exit by Thursday, leaving behind clear skies and seasonably cool temperatures across the southern Sierra region.
