Shreveport, LA – Northern Louisiana is gearing up for its first freeze of the season as a surge of cold air moves in late Sunday into Monday morning.
According to the US National Weather Service Shreveport, overnight lows are forecast to drop into the upper 20s to lower 30s across much of the region, including Shreveport, Texarkana, and El Dorado. The freeze is expected to develop late Sunday night and continue into early Monday morning, with temperatures remaining below freezing for several hours in some areas.
The highest chances for a freeze—60% to 70% probability—are across northern parishes and southern Arkansas, while central Louisiana, including Natchitoches and Winnsboro, faces a 30% to 45% chance. Areas farther south toward Lufkin and Nacogdoches may stay just above freezing.
Forecasters are urging residents to cover sensitive vegetation, bring pets indoors, and wrap exposed pipes, particularly in low-lying rural locations where temperatures tend to fall fastest.
After the freeze, daytime highs will rebound into the 50s and 60s early next week under mostly sunny skies, signaling a brief but impactful start to colder weather season.
