Shreveport, Louisiana – 45°F overnight lows are cooling roads and creating chilly early Sunday conditions following a sharp cold front, impacting early travel and outdoor plans.
A noticeable cool down is underway across the ArkLaTex today, with afternoon highs only reaching the mid-60s to near 70°F under clearing skies. Cooler air filtering in behind the front will continue to settle across northeast Texas, northwest Louisiana, and southwest Arkansas through the day.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, temperatures will drop steadily tonight into the mid-40s to lower 50s across the region, including Shreveport, Texarkana, Longview, and El Dorado. The coolest readings are expected in rural and low-lying areas before sunrise Sunday.
While no widespread hazards are expected, the cooler temperatures may impact early morning travel with patchy condensation on roads and reduced comfort for outdoor activities. Major routes including I-20, I-30, and U.S. 59 will remain dry but cooler conditions could affect early commuters.
Residents should prepare for a cooler night by adjusting indoor heating and dressing in layers for early Sunday activities.
Temperatures will begin to rebound Sunday afternoon, with a gradual warming trend continuing into early next week. Additional changes are expected midweek as rain chances return to the region.
