Shreveport, La. – Strong storms could bring damaging winds and large hail to parts of Northeast Texas, Southeast Oklahoma, Southwest Arkansas, and northern Louisiana Thursday afternoon and evening, with the highest risk along and north of I-20.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms is in place, with isolated storms capable of producing winds over 60 mph and hail up to the size of quarters. The threat window extends from mid-afternoon into the evening hours, potentially affecting cities including Texarkana, Longview, and Shreveport.

Drivers along I-20 should be prepared for sudden downpours, reduced visibility, and possible hail that could damage vehicles. Power outages are also possible if stronger cells develop, especially in rural areas of Northeast Texas and Southwest Arkansas where trees and power lines remain vulnerable.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, avoid unnecessary travel during the strongest storms, and monitor NOAA Weather Radio or local alerts for warnings that may be issued.

Storm chances decrease overnight, though unsettled weather could linger into Friday with additional updates expected.
