Shreveport, Louisiana – Showers and thunderstorms are expected to intensify across Shreveport and surrounding areas Saturday night, with rain chances peaking near 90% and the potential for isolated severe storms across the southwest Ark-La-Tex region.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, the greatest risk for severe activity will be overnight through early Sunday as a strong cold front pushes through. While most storms will remain non-severe, a few cells could bring gusty winds and heavy downpours—especially south of I-20 and near U.S. Highway 84.

Roads across the region—including in Longview, Natchitoches, and Lufkin—could become slick overnight as rain combines with rapidly falling temperatures. Lows are expected to plunge from the upper 40s to the upper 20s by Sunday morning, particularly north of I-30 near Hope and Texarkana.

Drivers are urged to reduce speed on wet roads and stay weather-aware, especially during early morning travel hours. No widespread flooding is expected, but brief ponding may occur in low-lying areas.

The threat of strong storms should taper by mid-morning Sunday as the front exits east. Another round of updates is expected if storm intensity increases overnight.
