Shreveport, LA – After weeks of dry conditions, a significant rainfall event is expected to bring widespread wet weather across the Ark-La-Tex this weekend, according to the US National Weather Service Shreveport, Louisiana.
Forecast models show a high probability of 2 or more inches of rain across northern Louisiana, southern Arkansas, and northeast Texas from Friday night through Sunday. Areas south of the I-30 corridor could see localized totals over 4 inches, particularly in southern half of northeast Texas and portions of northern Louisiana.
Most of the rain is forecast to fall from late Saturday through early Sunday, with periods of moderate to heavy rainfall. While this event will provide much-needed moisture, forecasters caution that localized flooding could occur in low-lying or poor-drainage areas.
Residents should be prepared for slower travel conditions, ponding on roads, and brief heavy downpours during the weekend’s rainiest periods.
