Shreveport, La. – Cooler air has settled across Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma Saturday, but residents should still expect scattered showers through the afternoon. Highs are holding in the low 70s to mid-80s, a drop from earlier in the week as a cool front pushes south.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, rain chances remain elevated along and south of the boundary, with the best coverage expected in central Louisiana and east Texas. Areas such as Natchitoches, Marshall, and El Dorado could see brief downpours, while Shreveport and Texarkana will deal with isolated showers.

The cooler air is most noticeable north of Interstate 20, where many towns are struggling to reach the upper 70s under thick clouds. Farther south, including Lufkin and Alexandria, readings are warmer but still below seasonal norms. Roads may become slick in spots during heavier bursts of rain, and drivers are urged to slow down and use headlights during afternoon showers.

The weather service says conditions will continue to improve overnight as the front settles farther south, but scattered showers may linger into Sunday morning.
