Shreveport, LA – The National Weather Service in Shreveport is warning residents across East Texas and Northern Louisiana to remain alert tonight as strong to severe thunderstorms move through the region.
Forecasters say the main threat will be damaging wind gusts exceeding 60 mph, though a few storms may also produce large hail up to the size of quarters. An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, particularly in areas south of Interstate 20, where the highest risk zone is centered.
The severe weather window is expected to last from late this afternoon through the first half of the overnight hours, according to the weather service. Residents are urged to monitor local alerts and have multiple ways to receive severe weather warnings, especially after dark.
Storm activity is forecast to diminish by early Sunday morning as the system moves east.
