Shreveport, LA – Cold rain will continue through the early evening across northwest Louisiana and portions of east Texas before moving out just after midnight, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Shreveport. While temperatures are expected to fall into the 23–32-degree range overnight, forecasters say conditions should remain ice-free.

According to the NWS, winds combined with enough drying time before temperatures dip below freezing will help remove any lingering moisture from roadways. This will prevent hazardous icing concerns that might otherwise accompany a cold, wet evening.

Rain will taper off steadily after sunset, with skies becoming partly cloudy overnight. Winds from the north-northwest around 5 mph will help usher in the colder air. Communities including Shreveport, Bossier City, Minden, Marshall, and Texarkana can expect a noticeable chill by early Tuesday morning.

While no major travel hazards are anticipated, forecasters note that temperatures will fall below freezing for several hours, which may affect sensitive vegetation and outdoor pipes. Residents are encouraged to protect pets and plants and ensure proper insulation for exposed plumbing.

Dry conditions are expected to continue into Tuesday, with temperatures gradually rebounding during the day.
