Shreveport, Louisiana – Above-normal temperatures will build across the ArkLaTex this week, with highs climbing into the upper 70s and low 80s before rain chances return Friday.

According to the US National Weather Service in Shreveport, a warming trend begins Monday and will continue through the end of the workweek. Afternoon highs are forecast to range from 66 to 72 degrees Monday, rising into the upper 70s by midweek.

By Wednesday and Thursday, temperatures are expected to reach between 73 and 81 degrees across much of northwest Louisiana, northeast Texas, southwest Arkansas, and southeast Oklahoma. Overnight lows will also trend milder than average, climbing into the mid-50s and lower 60s.

Breezy south winds are expected Tuesday, followed by light southwest winds Wednesday and Thursday as cloud cover gradually increases. While most of the week will remain dry, rain chances are forecast to return Friday as a system approaches the region.

Drivers along Interstate 20, Interstate 49, Interstate 30, US-165, and US-259 should anticipate increased travel during warm afternoon periods. By Friday, periods of rain could lead to wet pavement and reduced visibility during heavier showers.

The sustained warmth may be noticeable for outdoor workers, students, and commuters during peak afternoon hours.

While no severe weather is currently anticipated, residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts for timing adjustments to Friday’s rain chances.
