Shreveport, Louisiana – Mild and somewhat muggy conditions are expected tonight ahead of a cold front.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, overnight low temperatures are forecast to fall into the upper 50s to lower 60s across the Ark-La-Tex region. Southerly flow will keep conditions relatively humid for late February, especially along and near the Interstate 20 and Interstate 49 corridors.
Forecasters say temperatures on Thursday will climb significantly, with afternoon highs expected to approach 80 degrees in parts of northwest Louisiana and East Texas. Communities along major roadways including I-20, U.S. Highway 59, and I-220 could see readings in the upper 70s to near 80 by mid- to late afternoon.
The warmer air mass remains in place ahead of an approaching cold front, which is expected to move into the region after the daytime heating cycle. While the forecast discussion highlights mild conditions rather than severe weather at this time, residents may notice increased humidity compared to recent cooler stretches.
Drivers during the Thursday afternoon commute along I-20 and surrounding highways should expect springlike warmth, with temperatures running well above average for this point in the season.
The National Weather Service advises residents to monitor updated forecasts as the cold front approaches, which could bring changes heading into the end of the week. For now, the primary impacts include mild overnight lows and unseasonably warm daytime temperatures across the region.
