SHREVEPORT, La. — Strong to severe thunderstorms may affect parts of northwest Louisiana and eastern Texas beginning Tuesday night and continuing into Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, an approaching upper-level weather system could bring multiple rounds of thunderstorms capable of producing severe weather.

Forecasters say damaging wind gusts, large hail, and isolated tornadoes will all be possible as storms develop across the region.

The first round of storms could begin Tuesday evening and continue into the overnight hours, with another period of storms possible Wednesday morning through the afternoon.

The Storm Prediction Center currently places much of the ArkLaTex region, including Shreveport, Texarkana, and surrounding communities, in a Level 2 out of 5 severe weather risk for both Tuesday and Wednesday.

Meteorologists say the evolving storm system may allow storms to redevelop across the area over multiple periods, increasing the chance that some communities could experience strong storms more than once.

Residents are encouraged to monitor forecast updates and ensure they have multiple ways to receive weather warnings, especially overnight when storms may occur.

The timing could affect commuters and students traveling during both the late evening Tuesday and daytime hours Wednesday.
