Shreveport, Louisiana – The risk for severe weather across Shreveport is expected to increase Friday afternoon and evening as a cold front moves east into the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, there is little risk for widespread severe weather through tonight, with today’s outlook remaining at a Level 1 out of 5, or marginal risk. That threat rises Friday as the cold front approaches from Texas.

By Friday afternoon into Friday night, Shreveport falls within a Level 2 out of 5 severe weather risk. Strong to severe thunderstorms may develop, with damaging wind gusts and heavy rainfall among the primary concerns. Storms are expected to become more widespread during the evening hours.

The highest severe weather potential is forecast across Northern Louisiana and parts of South Central Arkansas, with the threat extending into extreme Deep East Texas. Timing and storm intensity will depend on how quickly the cold front progresses through the area.

Residents are advised to stay weather-aware Friday, especially during the late afternoon and evening hours when storms may impact travel and outdoor activities.
