Shreveport, Louisiana – A reinforcing cold front moving through the Ark-La-Tex will bring the coldest temperatures of the period tonight before a quick rebound to seasonably mild conditions on Monday.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, overnight temperatures are expected to drop into the mid-20s to mid-30s across the region following the frontal passage. The coldest readings are most likely during the pre-dawn hours Monday, with clear skies and light winds allowing temperatures to fall efficiently.
Residents are encouraged to take basic cold-weather precautions, including protecting exposed pipes, bringing pets indoors, and checking on those sensitive to colder temperatures. While no freeze warnings are currently in effect, the cold may still be impactful after recent milder weather.
Conditions improve noticeably on Monday, as sunshine returns and temperatures recover. Afternoon highs are forecast to range from the mid-50s to near 60 degrees, providing a comfortable and seasonable January day across northwest Louisiana, northeast Texas, and southern Arkansas. Winds are expected to remain light, further enhancing the milder feel.
The National Weather Service notes that Monday’s weather will mark a return to near-normal conditions for mid-January, following the brief cold snap. No precipitation is expected, and travel impacts should be minimal once temperatures rise above freezing.
The temperature swing may be noticeable for commuters and early-morning workers, especially those heading out before sunrise when readings will be coldest.
