Blacksburg, Virginia – Scattered rain showers are expected across parts of southwest Virginia and nearby mountain areas on Christmas Day, though temperatures will remain mild for the holiday.

According to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, rain chances are highest in locations west of the Blue Ridge, with showers possible throughout the day and into the evening. Areas farther east are expected to see lower precipitation chances.

Probability forecasts indicate elevated rain chances for communities including Bluefield, Lewisburg, Beckley, Wytheville, and Radford, while Roanoke, Lynchburg, Martinsville, and Danville are more likely to see limited or spotty precipitation.

Despite the rain potential, temperatures are expected to remain mild and seasonable, allowing for generally comfortable conditions for Christmas activities, especially outside of heavier shower periods.

The National Weather Service advises residents to plan for occasional showers, particularly in mountain locations, and to remain aware of changing conditions through the evening hours.
