According to the National Weather Service in Flagstaff, a Wind Advisory remains in effect from midnight tonight until 5 p.m. Friday for Apache County, including Show Low, Pinetop-Lakeside, Springerville, St. Johns and Greer. Southwest winds will increase to 20 to 30 mph overnight, with peak gusts between 40 and 55 mph expected late tonight through early Friday afternoon.
The strongest gusts will impact exposed roadways along US-60, Highway 260 and US-191, where crosswinds could push high-profile vehicles out of their lanes. Drivers of RVs, campers and tractor-trailers should use extra caution, especially across open stretches near St. Johns and Springerville.
Wind speeds may be strong enough to snap small tree limbs and cause isolated power outages. Residents are urged to secure trash cans, patio furniture and lightweight equipment before midnight. In forested communities like Greer and Pinetop, falling branches could block secondary roads.
Winds will remain elevated through the afternoon before gradually easing after 5 p.m. Friday. Travelers should check for the latest road conditions before heading out and remain alert for sudden gusts, particularly during the Friday morning and midday travel periods.
