Fort Worth, Texas – Scattered thunderstorms could bring sudden bursts of rain, gusty winds, and frequent lightning to areas near the Red River and across Central Texas this evening. Drivers from Sherman to Palestine should watch for fast-changing weather conditions and brief street flooding, especially on rural roads and low-lying spots.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, isolated pop-up storms will remain possible through tonight, especially for communities in north and east Texas. While widespread severe weather is unlikely, a few stronger cells could spark localized flooding and dangerous lightning, with the risk highest north of the Dallas-Fort Worth area and across central zones near Killeen and Palestine.

High temperatures today reached the low to mid 90s, adding extra fuel for quick-building storms. Residents in Sherman, Paris, and the Red River Valley, as well as southern towns like Palestine, should be prepared for sudden downpours and avoid flooded roads. NWS recommends delaying outdoor activities where lightning is observed and keeping phones charged in case of power outages.

Storm chances decrease late tonight, but pop-up showers may linger until early Monday. Stay tuned for updated advisories if storm coverage increases.
