Memphis, TN – A yearlong homicide investigation in southeast Shelby County has led to an arrest more than 700 miles away, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies announced that 30-year-old Nigel Farmer was arrested in Omaha, Nebraska, on Tuesday, November 19, 2025, in connection with the 2024 shooting death of 31-year-old Ta’Lesha Wise-Farmer.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the case began on October 29, 2024, when deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 7800 block of Shadowland Cove in southeast Shelby County. Wise-Farmer was found unresponsive at the scene and later pronounced deceased by Shelby County Fire personnel.

Detectives said an extensive investigation over the past year identified Nigel Farmer as the alleged shooter. A warrant for first-degree murder was issued earlier this year, leading the Memphis Safe Task Force to track him to Omaha, where he had recently relocated.

Authorities say Farmer is currently being held in Nebraska and is awaiting extradition back to Shelby County, Tennessee, to face charges.
