Louisville, KY – A cold front moving through Kentucky on Friday could trigger a few strong to severe thunderstorms, mainly during the afternoon and evening hours, according to the National Weather Service in Louisville.
Meteorologists say a line of showers and a few embedded storms will develop as the front pushes southeast, with isolated damaging wind gusts being the main hazard. Forecasters also note a low-end risk for a brief spin-up tornado, particularly across south-central Kentucky, including areas near Bowling Green and Columbia.
The Weather Service classifies this as a low-confidence forecast, as cloud coverage and available instability could impact how strong the storms become. Most areas are expected to see rain and breezy conditions, with the best chance for stronger activity along and south of the Bluegrass Parkway.
Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts through Friday and have multiple ways to receive severe weather alerts, especially if outdoor plans are scheduled during the afternoon and evening.
