Cleveland, OH – Residents across Ohio should prepare for strong winds, thunderstorms, and an increased wildfire risk Wednesday as dry and breezy conditions grip the region. A marginal risk for severe storms is in place, with the strongest activity expected late tonight.

According to the National Weather Service Cleveland, a line of showers and thunderstorms will move into the area after 11 p.m. While storms are expected to weaken, some could still produce strong wind gusts, particularly near the I-75 corridor. Wind speeds will peak between 35-40 mph through Thursday, with Mansfield expecting gusts up to 41 mph.

Additionally, dry conditions will elevate the risk of wildfire spread, particularly east of I-71. Areas including Cleveland, Akron, and Youngstown will experience low humidity levels, increasing fire hazards. Officials urge caution with potential ignition sources like cigarettes and machinery.

Residents should secure loose objects, set up weather alerts, and stay updated on the latest forecasts. More severe weather updates will follow as conditions evolve.
