Baltimore, MD – Severe thunderstorms are expected to impact the Mid-Atlantic region, including Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., throughout Sunday, bringing damaging winds and the potential for isolated tornadoes. The storm threat is expected to diminish by the evening.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Baltimore/Washington, storms will move into the area between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., with the highest risk for strong winds along the I-95 corridor. A slight risk for severe weather is in place for much of Maryland and northern Virginia, while areas further west are under a marginal risk.

Rainfall totals between 0.75 and 1.25 inches are expected, with localized flooding possible in areas experiencing heavy downpours. High temperatures will range from the low 60s in northern Maryland and the D.C. metro area to the low 70s further south. Special Marine Warnings may be issued for coastal areas due to strong winds over the water.
