Pittsburgh, PA – Eastern Ohio and Northwestern Pennsylvania are preparing for severe weather as the National Weather Service (NWS) predicts thunderstorms and damaging winds. Monday’s forecast indicates a low probability for morning showers, transitioning to a higher risk of thunderstorms between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m.

According to the NWS, the decaying mesoscale convective system (MCS) approaching from the west brings uncertainty but poses an isolated risk for damaging wind gusts between 40-60 mph. Residents should monitor local forecasts and stay updated on watches and warnings.

Shower and thunderstorm chances will persist overnight into Tuesday. The NWS has increased the severe potential to Level 2 for Tuesday, with higher confidence in thunderstorm formation. The risk includes damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes. The most significant threat period is between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m., with storm strength dependent on daytime heating.

The 10-day forecast for Pittsburgh indicates isolated thunderstorms today, with temperatures reaching 95°F. Tuesday’s high will be 91°F with a 45% chance of rain. Showers continue into Wednesday, with a high of 80°F and a 60% chance of rain. Conditions improve Thursday with partly cloudy skies and a high of 79°F, followed by sunny weather on Friday, reaching 81°F.
