Medford, OR – A heat advisory and air quality alert are in effect today as Medford braces for temperatures exceeding 100 degrees. The National Weather Service warns that these conditions are expected to persist through the weekend, with high temperatures on Saturday and Sunday forecasted to hit 94 and 95 degrees, respectively.
According to the National Weather Service, the heat advisory will last until 5 p.m. today. Residents should avoid outdoor activities during the peak heat hours between noon and 5 p.m., and ensure they stay hydrated. An air quality alert, driven by high ozone levels, also remains in place due to prolonged heat. Sensitive groups, including children and the elderly, should limit outdoor exposure.
Next week will bring some relief as cooler temperatures arrive by Tuesday, with highs dropping to 85 degrees. By Wednesday, temperatures are expected to settle into the mid-70s, offering a significant cooldown after the weekend’s heat.
