Albany, NY – The remnants of Tropical Storm Debby are forecasted to bring heavy rain to the Albany region starting Thursday night and continuing through Friday night. Meteorologists from the US National Weather Service Albany predict widespread rainfall amounts ranging from 1 to 3 inches, with locally higher totals that could trigger scattered to numerous flash floods.
According to the National Weather Service, the storm’s impact is expected to be most severe on Friday. The excessive rainfall outlook indicates a high risk of rapid-onset flooding across much of upstate New York. Residents in affected areas, including Binghamton, Syracuse, and Utica, are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions.
The potential for flash flooding is particularly concerning in low-lying areas and regions near rivers and streams.
