Severe Weather Alert: Montana, Upper Midwest at Risk for Isolated Tornadoes

Chicago, IL – The NOAA NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued an Enhanced Risk (Level 3/5) for severe weather in portions of the northern Plains and Upper Midwest, including northern Illinois and Chicago. Multiple rounds of scattered severe thunderstorms are expected from this afternoon through the overnight hours.

According to the NOAA, several clusters or lines of thunderstorms may develop, posing a risk for damaging winds exceeding 70 mph and large hail up to 2 inches in diameter. The strongest storms could also produce isolated tornadoes. This weather event is part of a broader system affecting areas from Montana to Wisconsin.
