Cheyenne, WY – The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Cheyenne and surrounding regions, including parts of Colorado, Nebraska, and Wyoming. The watch is in effect until 9:00 PM MDT on Monday, August 19, 2024.

Currently, storms are developing over Wyoming and are expected to intensify as they move east to northeast throughout the afternoon and evening hours. Residents should prepare for large hail, gusty winds, and heavy rainfall, which could pose significant hazards.

The watch warns of potential hail up to two inches in size, wind gusts up to 70 mph, and frequent lightning. These conditions may impact over 1.5 million residents, 635 schools, and 33 hospitals across the affected areas.
