Houston, TX – A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for parts of Texas until 6 a.m. Wednesday. Counties impacted include Harris, Galveston, Brazoria, and Fort Bend.
According to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, issued late Tuesday night, the watch covers 22 counties and adjacent coastal waters, including Matagorda and Galveston Bays. Storms could bring damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes.
Residents are advised to stay indoors and avoid travel during the storm. The watch also includes popular coastal areas like Port Aransas and Matagorda Ship Channel, with high winds expected over water.
Power outages and flash flooding may occur. Officials recommend securing outdoor objects and charging mobile devices ahead of potential outages. Emergency services are on standby.
