Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Parts of Illinois, Kansas, and Missouri

Kansas City, MO – The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch effective this Tuesday afternoon until midnight CDT for far west-central Illinois, eastern Kansas, and west-central and northern Missouri.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop through early to mid-evening, with some potentially evolving into supercells. According to the NWS, primary threats include damaging winds with gusts up to 75 mph, large hail up to 2 inches in diameter, and the possibility of a tornado.

Residents in the affected areas should remain vigilant for severe weather conditions and monitor updates from the NWS. Severe thunderstorms can occasionally produce tornadoes, making it crucial to stay informed and prepared.
