Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont till 8PM

Portland, ME – The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch, effective from 12:50 PM EDT until 8:00 PM EDT today. This watch includes parts of Maine, New Hampshire, eastern Vermont, and coastal waters.

According to the NWS, thunderstorms are expected to intensify this afternoon, moving quickly eastward. Primary threats include scattered damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph, isolated large hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter, and the possibility of a brief tornado.

Residents in the affected areas should stay alert for severe weather conditions and monitor local updates. Severe thunderstorms can occasionally produce tornadoes. Precautionary actions are advised.
