Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Iroquois and Benton Counties

Chicago, IL – The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for southeastern Iroquois County, Illinois, and western Benton County, Indiana, until 9:30 AM CDT.

At 8:44 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Hoopeston, approximately 9 miles south of Milford, moving northeast at 35 mph. The storm poses a significant hazard with 60 mph wind gusts and nickel-sized hail.

According to radar indications, the impact may include damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Areas expected to be affected include Fowler, Boswell, Earl Park, Stockland, Wellington, Ambia, Dunnington, Wadena, and Swanington.

Residents in these locations are advised to take precautionary measures and move to an interior room on the lowest floor of their building for protection.
