La Crosse, Wisconsin – Severe storms could strike parts of southeast Minnesota and western Wisconsin starting at 6 p.m. Monday, with large hail and damaging winds the main threats through midnight.

According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, a line of storms is expected to track southeast out of central Minnesota and into Wisconsin Monday evening. Areas under the highest local threat include Wabasha, Rochester, and Winona, marked at a Level 2 risk for scattered severe storms. Primary hazards include hail up to an inch in diameter and wind gusts over 60 mph.

Communities along the Mississippi River, including La Crosse, Prairie du Chien, and Decorah, may see isolated storm activity with less intense impacts. However, residents in Level 2 zones should remain weather-aware and have shelter plans in place if warnings are issued.

Storms are expected to weaken as they push further southeast overnight. Localized heavy rain and lightning remain secondary risks, especially where storms persist.

Warnings remain possible through midnight. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or weather.gov/lacrosse for updates.
