Omaha, Nebraska – A line of severe thunderstorms is expected to push across eastern Nebraska from 5 p.m. to midnight Monday, bringing the potential for 60+ mph wind gusts, large hail, and isolated tornadoes.

According to the National Weather Service in Omaha, a Level 2 (Slight) Risk has been issued for areas including Omaha, Lincoln, and Norfolk. Thunderstorm chances range from 60–90%, with a 5–15% chance of storms turning severe. The greatest threat is damaging winds, but hail over 1 inch in diameter, brief tornadoes, and localized flooding may also occur.

Drivers along I-80 and U.S. Highway 77 should prepare for sudden downpours and strong crosswinds during the evening commute. Residents in Douglas, Lancaster, and Sarpy counties are urged to stay weather aware and ensure multiple ways to receive warnings.

This is the first organized severe weather threat in several weeks for the region. Outdoor plans tonight should be reconsidered, especially between 6 and 10 p.m., when storm intensity is expected to peak.

More updates are expected later this afternoon. Warnings may be issued quickly once storms begin forming in central Nebraska and move eastward.
