Temperatures are expected to peak, with highs reaching the upper 90s to around 100 degrees, and heat index values between 105 and 115 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service, this dangerous heat event will persist through Wednesday. Heat indices are projected to remain over 105 degrees for several hours today, with some areas experiencing values at or above 110 degrees. Excessive Heat Warnings remain in effect for southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina, with Heat Advisories covering the remaining areas from 11 AM to 8 PM today.

Residents are advised to take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke. The highest heat index values are anticipated today, with nighttime lows providing little relief, staying in the mid to upper 70s to lower 80s.
