Seattle, Washington – Temperatures are set to drop into the 30s overnight, creating frost concerns by early Friday morning before a sharp warm-up arrives within days.
According to the National Weather Service in Seattle, a Frost Advisory is in effect from 11 p.m. Thursday through 9 a.m. Friday, with the coldest readings expected in the Chehalis Valley and southwest Washington, including Olympia, Hoquiam, and Chehalis. These areas have the highest likelihood of frost formation between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m., which could damage sensitive plants and early spring crops.
Cities along the I-5 corridor, including Tacoma and Seattle, may stay slightly warmer but could still see patchy frost in sheltered areas. Residents are urged to cover plants and bring sensitive vegetation indoors overnight.
The pattern flips quickly this weekend. By Sunday into Monday, temperatures rebound significantly, with Olympia, Tacoma, and Seattle showing a 95 to 100 percent chance of exceeding 65°F. Seattle could approach 70°F by Monday afternoon, marking one of the first warm stretches of the season.
Residents should prepare for cold mornings now and a rapid shift to springlike warmth early next week, with additional updates possible as temperatures trend upward.
