Washington – Fog presses low over downtown streets this morning, softening headlights and swallowing skylines block by block. The air feels damp and still, and visibility drops fast in spots. Winter may look quiet, but it’s already affecting how the day starts.

According to the National Weather Service, widespread dense fog develops across Seattle and surrounding lowlands through the morning hours. Visibility may fall below a quarter mile at times, especially before mid-morning. Temperatures hover in the low 50s, keeping conditions chilly but stable.

Across Western Washington, fog remains the primary concern through midweek. Patchy fog redevelops late each night and lingers into the morning commute Wednesday and Thursday. While no precipitation is expected, reduced visibility continues to impact travel and daily routines.

In Seattle, skies partially clear by afternoon today with highs near the upper 50s. Fog redevelops tonight, then thickens again early Wednesday. Drivers along I-5, I-90, Highway 99, and surface streets should expect sudden visibility drops, especially near water and valleys.

By Thursday, fog remains possible early before sunshine breaks through. Highs settle near 50, keeping the winter feel intact. Nights turn cooler, dipping into the low 40s, though freezing temperatures stay unlikely in the city.

Friday and Saturday trend brighter. Sunshine dominates with highs in the low 50s and clearer mornings. Winter hazards stay limited, but fog remains a wildcard during calm nights.

Dense fog advisories may be issued if conditions worsen. Commuting early this week? Tell us where fog slowed you down and how visibility looks in your neighborhood.
