SEATTLE, Wash. – Flooding along the Skokomish River continues to impact Mason County Friday, with the National Weather Service keeping a Flood Warning in effect until tomorrow afternoon. The river, which crested at 17.4 feet early Friday, remains above the 16.5-foot flood stage, sending water over nearby roads and low-lying pastures near Potlatch.

According to the National Weather Service in Seattle, the Skokomish River will slowly recede as showers taper off through the weekend. However, minor flooding remains likely through Saturday, particularly along West Bourgault Road and Skokomish Valley Road, where water continues to flow quickly across surfaces.

Motorists are urged not to drive through flooded areas or around barricades. Most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles, officials warn. Those in flood-prone zones should move valuables to higher ground and prepare for possible additional advisories later tonight.

The river is expected to fall below flood stage by early Saturday evening if conditions remain dry. Updates will be issued by the National Weather Service throughout the day.

Warnings remain in effect through Saturday afternoon.
