Seattle, WA – Residents across Western Washington are facing significant coastal flooding today, with warnings in effect along the Strait of Juan de Fuca and nearby coastal zones. Floodwaters could rise as high as 3 feet above normal levels in low-lying areas.

According to the National Weather Service, the flood warning began at 9 a.m. Saturday and will continue until 3 p.m. during the peak high tide period around noon. Flooding is expected to inundate roads, homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure, especially along the eastern and western portions of the Strait. Winds and waves may exacerbate shoreline erosion and flooding impacts.

In San Juan County, a separate warning is in effect until 9 a.m., with tides reaching up to 2.5 feet above normal. Meanwhile, the North and Central Coasts are under a High Surf Advisory, with waves between 18 and 23 feet creating dangerous conditions for swimmers and surfers.

Authorities urge residents to avoid flood-prone areas and follow road closures. Driving through flooded roadways can be life-threatening.
