Seattle, WA – The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a Wind Advisory for much of western and northwest Washington, including the Seattle metro area, Olympic Peninsula, San Juan Islands, and coastal communities, effective Saturday morning through Saturday night.
For the coastal areas, including Grays Harbor County, La Push, and Ocean Shores, the advisory runs from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., while inland locations such as Seattle, Everett, Olympia, Bellingham, and the Puget Sound lowlands will remain under advisory from 9 a.m. to midnight Saturday.
Forecasters expect southeast to southwest winds of 10 to 20 mph, with gusts reaching 35 to 40 mph at times. The strongest winds will occur along coastal headlands and exposed ridges, with inland gusts tapering off by late evening.
The NWS warns that gusty winds could knock down small branches, scatter unsecured objects, and cause localized power outages. Motorists, especially those driving high-profile vehicles, are urged to use caution and secure loose outdoor items ahead of the storm.
Winds are forecast to ease by early Sunday morning as the system moves eastward across the Cascades.
