Seattle, WA – A more active weather pattern is on the way for western Washington, bringing wind, rain, and mountain snow as the week progresses, according to the National Weather Service in Seattle.
After mostly dry and mild conditions through midweek, forecasters say rain will increase along the coast by Thursday afternoon, spreading inland into Puget Sound by Thursday night. Windy conditions are expected Thursday evening into Friday, with gusts strong enough to produce choppy waters and high surf along the coast.
By Friday, moderate to heavy rainfall could lead to localized ponding on roadways, while winds remain breezy throughout the day. The system will also bring a sharp drop in snow levels, falling to around 3,000–4,000 feet by the weekend. That means moderate to heavy snow is likely for the Cascade and Olympic Mountains, including key passes such as Snoqualmie and Stevens.
The National Weather Service advises residents to monitor updated forecasts through the weekend, especially those planning mountain travel or coastal activities.
