Auburn, Neb. – Residents across southeast Nebraska should prepare for potential flooding through late Sunday night as rounds of heavy rain move into Nemaha, Pawnee, and Richardson counties. Some areas could see rainfall totals exceeding 4 inches, raising the risk of high water in flood-prone spots.
According to the National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley, the heaviest rain is expected between tonight and late Sunday, with 1 to 3 inches falling in multiple waves of storms. Localized areas may receive up to 5 inches, increasing the chance of flash flooding along rivers, creeks, and low-lying roads.
In Falls City, Auburn, Table Rock, and Pawnee City, officials urge residents to avoid driving through flooded streets and to have an evacuation plan if water levels rise. Low crossings on U.S. Highway 75 and rural gravel roads could become impassable by Sunday afternoon.
The flood threat will persist until the rain tapers late Sunday night, but runoff may keep waterways high into Monday. More advisories are possible if additional rain develops early next week.
