Cheyenne, Wyoming – High Wind Warnings remain in effect across southeast Wyoming and parts of western Nebraska, with gusts up to 60 mph expected along Interstate 25 and Interstate 80 through Thursday morning, posing travel hazards for high-profile vehicles.

According to the US National Weather Service in Cheyenne, warning conditions will continue through 9 p.m. tonight for much of southeast Wyoming and portions of the Nebraska Panhandle. In wind-prone areas, including Arlington, Bordeaux and the I-80 Summit, warnings have been extended until 11 a.m. Thursday.

Forecasters say a brief lull in winds is possible late Wednesday night before strong gusts redevelop early Thursday morning. Wind-prone corridors along I-80 near Arlington and Elk Mountain, as well as stretches of I-25 near Bordeaux, are particularly susceptible to hazardous crosswinds.

In Nebraska, areas including Scottsbluff, Sidney and Kimball may experience strong gusts into the evening hours, affecting travel along U.S. Highway 26 and U.S. Highway 385.

Officials caution that lightweight and high-profile vehicles, including semitrailers, campers and box trucks, face an increased risk of blowovers in exposed areas. Drivers are advised to reduce speed, maintain firm control of steering and consider delaying travel if operating large vehicles.

While no widespread precipitation is expected with this system, blowing dust and reduced visibility are possible in open areas.

Commuters and freight haulers using I-25 and I-80 should monitor the latest road conditions and wind updates through Thursday morning.
