Vienna, IN – A Scott County traffic stop on State Road 356 led to the discovery of alleged methamphetamine and the arrest of a southern Indiana man, authorities said.

According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Kyle West pulled over a gold 2007 Chevrolet Silverado on Wednesday afternoon near Main Street in Vienna for an expired license plate. K-9 Charley was deployed during the stop and gave a positive indication of narcotics inside the vehicle.

A search of the truck uncovered approximately 1.5 ounces of alleged methamphetamine, investigators reported. The driver, identified as Riley Nasby, 28, of Deputy, Indiana, was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine of at least 28 grams, dealing methamphetamine of at least 10 grams, possession of a Schedule I–IV controlled substance, and maintaining a common nuisance.

Sheriff Jerry Goodin praised deputies for continued enforcement against drug trafficking. “Repeatedly our deputies keep arresting drug dealers. This is why we are considered one of the safest counties and our crime rates continue to be lowest around,” Goodin said. “If you come to Scott County to break the law, you will go to jail.”

Nasby remains in custody pending court proceedings.
