Scott County, IN – Inmate Attempts Jail Escape, Quickly Thwarted by Deputies

Scott County, IN – An inmate at the Scott County Security Center attempted an escape early Sunday morning but was quickly apprehended.

According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, James Bowman, incarcerated since October 2023, attempted to flee while being escorted within the jail. Deputies swiftly enacted protocols, securing Bowman within minutes. He attempted another escape while being processed and was taken to Scott Memorial Hospital for an injury. Bowman exhibited erratic behavior, leading to further observation at University Hospital in Louisville. Sheriff Goodin praised the deputies’ prompt response, noting this marks the third escape attempt in five years.
