Bettendorf, IA – A 63-year-old LeClaire man suffered severe injuries Friday night after his motorcycle struck a deer on Great River Road in Bettendorf, according to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened around 7:18 p.m. on September 26 in the 18400 block of Great River Road. Authorities said the man was riding a 2009 Harley Davidson northbound when the deer entered the roadway. The impact caused him to lose control and skid along the road.

According to investigators, the man was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Emergency crews, including Scott County Medic EMS, Bettendorf Fire Department, Bettendorf Police Department, and LeClaire Police Department, responded to the scene. The rider was transported by MEDIC Ambulance to a nearby hospital with severe injuries. His condition remains unknown as of Saturday.

The Sheriff’s Office noted that the accident remains under investigation.
