Hastings, Nebraska – Extreme heat is set to return to Nebraska by Friday, with triple-digit temperatures likely to persist through the weekend and heat index values exceeding 100 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, a shift in the weather pattern will bring much drier and hotter conditions beginning Thursday. Cities including Grand Island, Kearney, and Holdrege will see afternoon highs from 98 to 106 degrees Friday through Sunday, with overnight lows staying warm in the upper 70s.
