According to authorities, the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at approximately 3:34 p.m. on Monday, November 3, at a residence on 1822 Dexter Avenue in Portsmouth. The warrant was the result of an ongoing investigation into suspected drug trafficking.
During the search, officers reportedly seized about 81.73 grams of suspected fentanyl or opiates, 9.39 grams of suspected crack cocaine, five loaded firearms, digital scales, baggies, and roughly $3,801 in cash. Officials estimated the street value of the seized drugs at more than $10,900.
Police identified the suspect as John Wallington, who was arrested and charged with trafficking and possession of drugs, both felonies of the first degree. He was booked into the Scioto County Jail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Tuesday, November 4, at 9 a.m.
The case will be forwarded to the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office for review and possible presentation to a grand jury for additional charges.
