Schaumburg residents will have an opportunity to safely dispose of old electronics during the village’s free Annual Electronic Waste Home Collection later this month. The program will run from Monday, Sept. 29 through Friday, Oct. 3, offering a convenient curbside pickup option.
According to the Village of Schaumburg, registration for the event is required by Monday, Sept. 22, and can be completed online through the Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) website. Residents who register must place their items curbside by 7 a.m. on Sept. 29, with pickups occurring at any point during the week.
Accepted items include televisions, computer monitors, laptops, small electronics, and other similar devices. Appliances, however, will not be collected. To help manage volume, the collection is limited to seven items per household, with a restriction of one TV or one monitor per pickup.
Village officials said the program is designed to keep harmful materials out of landfills while giving residents a safe and environmentally friendly way to clear out unwanted electronics. Electronics recycling continues to be an important sustainability effort, as many devices contain materials that can be reused once properly processed.
Residents looking to participate are encouraged to register as soon as possible to secure their spot, as the collection is only available to households that complete the online sign-up by the deadline. More details, including registration links and guidelines, are available on the village’s official website and the LRS recycling page.
