Schaumburg, IL – The Village of Schaumburg will officially kick off the holiday season Friday, November 28, with its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Ct.

According to the village, festivities begin at 6 p.m. with caroling from the Schaumburg Choral Program inside the Prairie Center’s Maggie Atcher Theatre. The evening continues with family-friendly entertainment including holiday balloon twisters and appearances by characters Elphaba and Glinda from Wicked, adding a touch of theatrical holiday magic.

At 6:30 p.m., Santa Claus will make his grand entrance by carriage to join village officials in lighting the community tree at the Jack Siegel Memorial Plaza. Following the ceremony, Santa will greet families and pose for photos in the Maggie Atcher Theatre until 8:30 p.m.

A new feature this year includes carriage rides from 6:50 to 9 p.m. Tickets cost $5 per person and must be purchased online in advance at prairiecenter.org/TreeLighting.

The event is free and open to the public, with free parking available on-site and across the street at the School District 54 Administration Building. Organizers are also collecting nonperishable food and household items to support the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry.
