Charleston, S.C. – Parts of the South Carolina Lowcountry and southeast Georgia are under a Heat Advisory through this evening, with heat indices expected to climb between 107 and 111 degrees. Afternoon highs will reach the lower to mid-90s, but high humidity will make conditions feel much hotter and increase the risk of heat-related illness.
According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, the advisory covers Charleston, Beaufort, and Colleton counties in South Carolina, as well as Chatham, Liberty, and Bryan counties in Georgia. Isolated to scattered showers or thunderstorms may develop later today, offering brief relief in some areas.
Officials advise limiting strenuous outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, wearing lightweight and light-colored clothing, and drinking plenty of water. If you have air conditioning, use it, as fans alone may not provide enough cooling in dangerous heat.
The advisory remains in effect through tonight, with conditions expected to gradually improve after sunset. Additional alerts may be issued if the heat persists into Thursday.
