Charleston, S.C. – Drivers along the South Carolina and Georgia coasts should prepare for another round of flooding this evening as high tide pushes water inland. Moderate flooding is expected in Charleston Harbor with water levels reaching 7.8 feet just after 9 p.m., raising the likelihood of impassable roads downtown.

According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, high tide will occur between 8:45 and 9:15 p.m. tonight. Moderate flooding is likely in Colleton and Charleston counties, while minor flooding is expected in Savannah and Fort Pulaski, where water could rise to 9.6 feet by 9:10 p.m.

Officials warn that saltwater inundation could reach up to 1.5 feet in Charleston, and up to 1 foot in parts of Bryan, Chatham, Liberty, McIntosh, Beaufort, and Jasper counties. Low-lying streets and neighborhoods near tidal creeks will be most at risk, and drivers are urged to avoid flooded routes, especially during the evening commute.

Residents are encouraged to move vehicles to higher ground, avoid walking through floodwaters, and monitor local advisories for road closures.

Flood advisories remain in effect through late evening, with the possibility of more alerts if water levels rise higher than forecast.
